The asian fetish chronicles continue...

Here's some pretty decent commentary on a book that I've previously only read wholly unsatisfying reviews for (including the salon one that is mentioned). Somehow the commentary makes me want to read the book even less. Do we really need another white dude commenting on his own fetish in so many words? It all seems a bit masturbatory on the author's part and a waste of my reading time when I could be nourishing my mind with Moby Dick or Toni Morrison's Jazz (my two reads of the mo).

One day, will do more homework on all this and write something more insightful. But sometimes, it's too painful to think about. For now, I just like peeking back at this site every now and then. I laugh every time, even if the humor is a bit broad.

Hah that's pretty funny, why'd you pick up the book in the first place? Also, no mention of the book title in your post, you made us click the link for it!

Oh, I never read the book, just reviews for it. My writing skills must be deteriorating if I couldn't communicate that. There's yet another review of it on Slate: http://slate.com/id/2221479/

I am still struggling to understand why the book's getting so much press anyway. But I guess I should read it *shudder* Don't know if I want to. I think it might make me puke.
